About Sardar Patel University

Sardar Patel University, established in October 1955, is a public (state) university located in Vallabh Vidyanagar, Anand district, Gujarat. Named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, it operates under the Sardar Patel University Act, 1955, and received UGC recognition under Section 2(f) in October 1968. The university spans approximately 86 acres, holds a ‘A’ grade accreditation from NAAC (CGPA 3.25), and serves a network of 28 postgraduate departments, its own constituent college, and 113 affiliated colleges 

SPU offers a broad academic portfolio—including UG, PG, diploma, certificate, and doctoral programs—across disciplines such as Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, Engineering, Pharmacy, Medicine, Law, Education, and Homeopathy. Its teaching and research embrace traditional lectures, seminars, group activities, multimedia aids, and industry interactions. The university hosts Centres for Advanced Studies, UGC-SAP units, and a Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Science & Technology (CISST) focused on emerging fields like nanotech, bioengineering, and earth sciences

Admission Process & Eligibility

Undergraduate (UG)

Eligibility: 10+2 in the relevant stream; ≥ 50% aggregate (may vary by program).

Selection: Merit-based through GCAS portal (for state quota); some professional UG courses may require entrance exams.

Mode: Online application, merit list, counseling via GCAS; select programs use ACPC counseling.

Postgraduate (PG)

Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree with ≥ 50% marks.

Selection: Merit-based; professional programs like MCA require CMAT through ACPC; other PG diplomas via entrance exam/interview 

Ph.D.

Eligibility: Master’s degree with ≥ 55%.

Selection: Entrance test conducted twice yearly, followed by interview; NET/SLET/M.Phil/GATE qualifiers are exempt from the entrance test  

Academic Programs

Additionally, SPU’s CISST conducts M.Sc programmes in emerging interdisciplinary fields to nurture research for NET/JRF preparation

Campus: An 86‑acre scenic rural campus with heritage main building; situated in an educational township close to Anand and Karamsad 

Infrastructure: Extensive library with over a million+ volumes, well-equipped labs, IT infrastructure, seminar halls.

Amenities: Hostels, sports complex (cricket, football, basketball, tennis, swimming, gym), medical center, cafeterias, and green spaces  

Research Support: UGC‑SAP centers, advanced research labs, institute journals, and DST-funded CISST 

Placements: Active placement cell with ~3.5 LPA average package, peak salary ~5.7 LPA; recruiters include TCS, L&T, Mahindra, Godrej, NDDB, Torrent, etc.
